Protection Policies

Safer Churches

At The Open Church, we take safety seriously. We are committed to Safer Churches because people matter to God, and they must matter to us. Church should be a place of refuge, not risk. We want every person, especially children and vulnerable people, to feel safe, seen, and respected from the moment they arrive.

About

We build safety through clear policies, strong leadership, and accountable systems. This includes screening and onboarding for volunteers, appropriate supervision, and clear boundaries in every ministry environment. We do not rely on good intentions alone. We train our teams, we review our processes, and we keep improving as we grow.

We also aim to create a culture where concerns can be raised without fear. If something feels wrong, we want people to speak up. We take reports seriously, respond promptly, and follow the right processes to protect people and uphold integrity. Safety is not just compliance, it is love in action.

Safer Churches is part of how we disciple our church. We want leaders and volunteers who serve with humility, wisdom, and care. We are building spaces where children can thrive, teenagers can be supported, and adults can belong with confidence. If you have questions or need support, please reach out. We are here to help.
