Care Process

At The Open Church, we believe no one should walk alone. Life brings seasons of joy, challenge, loss and growth – and through it all, we are here to walk with you. Whether you need prayer, a listening ear, or help connecting with professional support, our care is relational, grounded in prayer, and deeply pastoral in nature – not medical or clinical. We are not doctors or therapists, but we are a spiritual family. We’ll sit with you, pray with you, encourage you, and help you take the next step forward.

Pastoral Care Process: Community > Pastoral Team > Eldership

1. Prayer and Care Through the Service Community
The first and most powerful place of care in our church is through the Service Community. Most of our people serve in a team – and those teams become spiritual families where prayer, encouragement, and community flow naturally. Join a team and become part of a living, breathing circle of support and shared purpose. It’s more than volunteering. It’s belonging.

2. Our Pastoral Care Team
For those times when life feels overwhelming, our dedicated Pastoral Care Team is available to walk with you. They are seasoned, prayerful, and deeply compassionate people who have a heart for others. Whether you’re facing illness, grief, family stress, or a spiritual crisis, these are safe people to reach out to.
While you are always free to speak with anyone you trust, these are the individuals we formally recognise as The Open Church Pastoral Care Team. They’ve been chosen for their maturity, humility, and their ability to provide care that reflects the heart of Christ.

3. Our Pastoral Eldership Team
Our trusted Elders are available to stand with you. They are spiritually mature, prayerful, and deeply committed to the well-being of our church family. Whether you’re navigating a personal struggle, seeking wisdom, or needing spiritual guidance, these are safe and wise people to approach.
These are the individuals we formally recognise as Elders at The Open Church. They have been prayerfully appointed for their discernment, humility, and their ability to shepherd others with the heart of Christ. They carry the spiritual weight of oversight and are here to walk with you in faith, grace, and truth.

Rehabilitation Support Services

There are moments when life spirals beyond our control – addiction, trauma, destructive patterns, or emotional breakdowns. These aren’t signs of weakness; they are signals that something deeper needs healing. Sometimes prayer and community aren’t enough on their own. That’s where Christian rehabilitation steps in.
At The Open Church, we honour the courage it takes to say, “I need help.” Whether it’s for substance use, broken relationships, or life-controlling struggles, there is hope. There is a path forward. And there are places designed to walk you through long-term restoration – safely, spiritually, and with dignity.

Adult & Teen Challenge WA
Adult & Teen Challenge WA offers long-term residential rehabilitation for men and women facing life-controlling issues such as addiction, trauma, anxiety, and broken relationships. Rooted in Christian discipleship, their program is more than recovery—it’s transformation.
Through structured routines, biblical teaching, and a supportive community, individuals are given the tools to rebuild their lives from the inside out. If you or someone you love is stuck in a cycle and ready for lasting change, Teen Challenge is a powerful step forward.
Freedom is possible. Hope is real. Let us help you begin the journey.

Marriage Counselling
At The Open Church, we deeply value marriage. We believe it’s a sacred covenant – a reflection of God’s love, commitment, and grace. But even the strongest marriages face seasons of stress, conflict, or silence. Sometimes you need to talk, to unpack the strain, to ask the hard questions. And we get it – opening up to people you know in church can feel awkward, even risky. That’s why we recommend trusted, external Christian counsellors who specialise in marriage support. They offer safe, confidential, and biblically grounded guidance – so you can be real, seek wisdom, and grow together without fear of judgement. There’s no shame in asking for help. In fact, it’s one of the bravest things you can do for your marriage.
